The Film Festival

Since 1967, the Sitges Fantasy and Horror Film Festival has been one of the most renowned film festivals in Europe, and it is considered to be one of the most important in the industry. In October, Sitges offers a place to gather and presents all the latest news about this genre for movie lovers from around the world.

Throughout its history, the Festival has welcomed a long list of international movie actors, directors, and producers, making it, year after year, an attraction for the mass media. Our most famous visitors include Viggo Mortensen, Quentin Tarantino, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Jodie Foster, Cameron Diaz, Santiago Segura, Guillermo del Toro, Álex de la Iglesia, Aitana Sánchez Gijón, and Jordi Balagueró.

The Festival’s opening and closing ceremonies, and the presentations of the movies, are held at the Auditorio de Aiguadolç, at the El Retiro Cinema, and at the El Prado Casino, located downtown.
